Born and raised in Southern California, Julie received her Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy with honors, from Mount St. Mary's University in Los Angeles. She owned a successful PT practice in Los Angeles prior to moving to Clarks Summit in 2001. Julie and her husband Scott moved to northeast PA as they were starting their family and are happy to call the Abingtons their home. Julie was excited to bring Body Dynamic, and particularly Pilates-based rehabilitation, to Clarks Summit in January 2009. She received her comprehensive Pilates training and certification, is a PMA certified Pilates instructor and has been utilizing the Pilates method as part of the rehabilitation process for patients since 2000. While Julie has benefited from working in a variety of PT settings throughout the last 28 years, she has found a passion working with oncology patients throughout treatment and into survivorship.

Donna Sokolowski

A native of Scranton, Donna earned her degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 1985. She has always practiced in the region, in a variety of settings including acute, transitional, long term, and home health care. Her main focus for over 30 years has been in outpatient services, treating a variety of conditions including orthopedic, post surgical, joint replacement, neurological, chronic pain, as well as work, trauma, and sports related injuries. Donna has a special interest in the treatment of osteoporosis, and also dizziness and balance disorders. Donna comes to Body Dynamic with a background in dance and martial arts, incorporating principles from these arts into her practice. She also feels that the Pilates training which she has received at BD has significantly enhanced all aspects in the care and recovery of her patients. Donna is a firm believer in the one on one mode of care provided at BD, affording the opportunity to fully understand the needs of each individual in creating customized exercise programs and instruction in injury prevention.

Casey Wrobel

Casey, a 2014 Abington Heights graduate, has lived in Clarks Summit most of her life and enjoys hiking, yoga, and spending time with family. Following high school, Casey attended Ithaca College in upstate NY where she received a Bachelors Degree in Clinical Health Studies and a Doctorate Degree In Physical Therapy. She places an emphasis on hands-on treatment in all of her sessions and has experience with Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization by way of Hawkgrips tools and cupping techniques. Casey is passionate about empowering her patients to take control of their health and helping them reach their goals and return to doing what they love.

Melissa Chappell

Melissa graduated from James Madison University in 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences and in 2011 with a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Upon graduation, she began working in outpatient rehabilitation alongside other experienced hand therapists and quickly recognized that hand therapy combined her love for hands-on care and creative problem solving. She has focused her career specializing in the treatment and rehabilitation of upper extremity conditions both conservatively and post-operatively.

In 2019 Melissa became a Certified Hand Therapist and enjoys working with many of NEPA's hand surgeons and orthopedic specialists. Melissa specializes in custom fabrication of both static and dynamic orthoses (splints) which can assist in protecting surgeries, decreasing pain, preventing injury, and regaining functional use of the hand and upper extremity.

Carly Young

Hi, I'm Carly Young, a doctor of physical therapy. I went to school at Misericordia University, where I also received a Bachelor degree in biology. My passion is improving movement to reduce pain and enhance performance. I have a background in working with athletes and functionally active adults but experience working with people of all ages.

When I'm not working, you can usually catch me at CrossFit or hanging with my dog.

Joan E. received her Associates Degree in Applied Physical Therapy in 1990 from Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Virginia. She has a passion for health and wellness and enjoys helping her patients at BD achieve their goals. Additional specialties that Joan E. utilizes - she is comprehensively trained in Pilates with Body Arts and Science International. She is an Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist, a certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner and a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.

Carla Mitchell

Carla is a licensed physical therapist assistant who loves working with patients from all different backgrounds but is especially fond of working with the geriatric population. She received her degree from Lackawanna College in 2022. Becoming a PTA has been very fulfilling to her as Carla is able to combine her love of movement and fitness with her passion for helping others. In 2017, Carla completed the 2,190 mile trek on the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in a 6 month journey that she considers to be life-changing. Carla pursued a certification as a Wilderness First Responder through the National Outdoor Leadership school in 2018 to further her knowledge and skills in the backcountry. Carla likes to stay active outside doing activities such as hiking, trail running, cycling, and will dabble in just about any form of exercise. On weekends, you can most likely find her at Lackawanna State Park with her beloved German Shorthair Pointer puppy, Sawyer and her fiance, Zack.

Sarah Walker

Sarah received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 2013. She believes in a holistic approach for individualized care to facilitate people returning to their activities. She incorporates various techniques including manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, evidence-based practice, and selective therapeutic activities to influence recovery.

Sarah returns to the Scranton area after providing care in Seattle and then New York City. She has worked with various patients' orthopedic needs and also focused on dance rehabilitation. In New York, Sarah had patients in the clinic and backstage ensuring that the show must safely go on. Some Broadway performances she assisted with included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Carousel, and Come from Away. Some performers she treated were part of New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and The Rockettes to name a few.

Sarah grew up dancing at the Ballet Theatre of Scranton and participating in athletics at Scranton Prep. She is looking forward to getting involved in this community again.
