Julie Tinkelman

PT
Physical Therapist, Owner

Born and raised in Southern California, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy with honors, from Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles. I owned a successful PT practice in Los Angeles before moving to Clarks Summit in 2001. My husband Scott and I moved to northeast PA as we were starting our family and are happy to call the Abingtons our home.

I was excited to bring Body Dynamic, and particularly Pilates-based rehabilitation, to Clarks Summit in January 2009. I received my comprehensive Pilates training and certification, am a PMA-certified Pilates instructor, and have been utilizing the Pilates method as part of the rehabilitation process for patients since 2000. While I have benefited from working in a variety of PT settings throughout the last 30 years, I have found a passion for working with oncology patients throughout treatment and into survivorship.

I currently hold certifications in the following areas:

  • Certified Rehabilitative Pilates Practitioner
  • Pink Ribbon Program Instructor
  • Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist – PORi ™
  • Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner
  • Cancer Exercise Specialist
  • Graston Technique Provider

Core Values

  • Compassion is the cornerstone of my interactions, guiding me to approach every individual with empathy and understanding.
  • Integrity is non-negotiable; I strive to uphold honesty and ethical behavior in all aspects of my life.
  • Collaboration is key, as I believe in the power of teamwork and collective effort.
  • Innovation keeps me motivated and curious, driving me to explore new ideas and approaches.
  • Accountability is a key principle; I take ownership of my actions and decisions, striving always to do better.
  • Community is my anchor, as I find purpose and fulfillment in giving back and supporting those around me.

“The greatest wealth is health.” – the Roman poet, Virgil

As a physical therapist, I aim to address common challenges faced by patients. These include limited access to care, chronic pain management, lack of understanding about their condition, adherence to home exercises, and emotional well-being. By increasing accessibility, providing clear education, and offering support, I strive to improve patients’ overall rehabilitation experience and outcomes.

What is Julie Reading, Listening To, or Watching?

  • Shawshank Redemption (Movie)
  • The Green Mile (Movie)
  • Ted Lasso (Series)

My favorite place to be is anywhere with my family. Two of my three kids are in college so any chance for all of us to be together is a blessing. I love all forms of exercise – Pilates, yoga, hiking, weight lifting – and anything I can do outside is a bonus!

Patient Testimonials

Julie is excellent with her knowledge and so very helpful and patient, especially to someone who is new to PT services. Rachel H.

By far the best experience I’ve had with a Physical Therapy facility. The owner’s high standards for her therapists and staff as well as covering patients’ every need equals a superior result. So grateful to have such knowledge and care in my backyard. If it wasn’t I’d travel for the excellent care! Cathy P.

You all are very comforting and helpful. I find you very professional and knowledgeable. So very thankful for all your help through this tough situation. Julie and her team are the best. I am glad that I made the right choice to have them help me through my recovery. Thank you.
